Overhead Crane Sold to Concrete Plant in Sweden

2026-05-21 11:32:47

This customer is from Sweden and works in the precast concrete industry. Their company primarily manufactures concrete floor slabs, wall structures, stairs, balconies, and other precast concrete components. They contacted us to purchase a bridge crane.

Customer Requirements

Precast concrete components have a distinct characteristic: they are heavy, large in size, and extremely susceptible to impact damage. These concrete components must pass through the following stages during handling within the workshop.

Process Challenge Description
Formwork Assembly Precise positioning of heavy-duty steel formwork at the pouring station
Placing the Reinforcement Cage into the Formwork Lifting the precast reinforcement cage into the formwork; this must be done smoothly and without impact
Concrete Pouring Vibration compaction is required during the pouring process
Demolding Separating the cured concrete component from the mold; requires vertical lifting without damaging the edges or corners
Curing and Transport Lift the components to the curing area or load them directly onto trucks for shipment
Loading and Shipping Lift the components from the factory to the truck, navigating around other equipment and passageways during the process

Challenges in the Customer's Lifting Environment

Based on the information provided by the customer and workshop videos, we identified the following primary challenges and requirements:

1. Long Span

The column spacing in the customer's facility is 25 meters, which places certain demands on the load-bearing capacity of the facility's corbels and track beams.

2. Smooth Operation on Long-Distance Tracks

The customer's factory tracks are very long. The longer the crane track, the greater the deviation in straightness and levelness. If the crane's trolley travel mechanism cannot start and brake smoothly, the suspended concrete components will sway, which is not only dangerous but can also damage the edges and corners of the components.

3. Coordinated Operation of Multiple Cranes

The client requires multiple cranes to operate in coordination within the same workshop. These cranes need to run on different sections of the same track. Key challenges include preventing collisions, achieving synchronized lifting between two cranes, and ensuring that operators on the ground can clearly determine their relative positions. These are all issues that need to be addressed.

Advantages of the QDX Bridge Crane in This Project

In this project, the cranes we provided offer the following key advantages:

1. Compact design, suitable for limited headroom

Compared to LH-type overhead cranes, the QDX model is designed to FEMB standards, resulting in a smaller footprint and lighter weight for the same lifting capacity. In this project, the maximum distance from the hook to the wall is approximately 30% shorter than that of traditional cranes, allowing the crane to operate closer to the wall. For the same factory height and lifting requirements, the QDX model offers a higher maximum lifting height.

2. Modular Design

The QDX overhead crane features a modular design, encompassing both the electrical control system and mechanical components. In the event of a component failure, only the specific module needs to be replaced, eliminating the need for complete disassembly.

3. Smooth Lifting

Since concrete components are most vulnerable to impact and vibration during lifting, engineers incorporated dual-speed control into the design. This allows the crane to perform soft starts and soft stops during operation, ensuring exceptionally smooth acceleration and deceleration.
