In 2024, a production manager found our website by searching for information about bridge cranes. This customer is from a wood-based furniture manufacturing industry, and with the increase of export orders in their factory, they have expanded their factory with a new assembly hall. FAQ about 2 Ton Overhead Cranes

Q1: Will a 2-ton lifting capacity be too much for a furniture factory? How much does the average furniture piece weigh?

A: Ordinary chairs and small tables may weigh only a few tens of kilograms, while large solid wood dining tables, conference tables, and marble or slate tables tend to weigh between 1 and 1.8 tons. Also bundles of solid wood lumber, maintenance lifting of heavy woodworking machinery may approach this weight. Choosing a 2-ton can cover more than 95% of your lifting needs, leaving a margin for greater safety. If there are no large products, 1 ton will suffice.

Q2: Does wood dust really affect crane life? Do I need to do extra dusting?

A: Will. The wind blade of the motor of the chain hoist will draw fine wood chips into the wind shield, which will accumulate for a long time and lead to poor heat dissipation, and the motor will easily overheat and burn out. Our standard program already includes inlet filters, which are recommended to be cleaned every two weeks. A: No complicated soldering required. Our cranes use bolted end and main beams, and the rails can be fixed to I-beams or H-beams using elastic pressure plates. However, the level and straightness of the track and the strength of the bull legs (support beams) need to be calculated by a professional. We will provide detailed drawings of track beam foundation, and customers can find local steel structure construction team to construct according to the drawings. Q4: Can a 2-ton overhead crane be operated by workers on the ground? No need to go up to the driver's compartment?

A: Totally. We recommend either a ground manipulation handle (wired) or a wireless remote control. For furniture factories, a scene that does not require continuous high-intensity work, the ground manipulation handle is the most cost-effective, and workers can operate while walking, always following the lifting object in their line of sight. Wireless remotes are more flexible, but require regular battery changes.

Q5: Can this crane be used outdoors? Like in a lumber yard?

A: The standard 2-ton overhead crane is designed for indoor environment, not recommended for long-term open-air use. If you do need to use it in the semi-open air or under a canopy, choose the Outdoor Type, including: adding a rain cover, upgrading the electrical box to IP65, adding anti-rust treatment to the rails, and using UV-resistant cables.
