In 2025, the purchasing manager of a coal-fired power plant in the Philippines contacted us on the website and they wanted to buy a grab overhead crane for the power plant. He wrote in the email:
We are looking for 3 grab cranes capable of efficiently unloading coal for power plant docks. I learned about Yuantai brand through friends' recommendations and industry forums before, and I hope you can provide solutions and quotations.
The power plant is located near Manila Bay. Since the plant requires a large amount of coal as fuel for its daily operation, the efficiency of the original method of unloading and stacking coal was slightly underground, and they wanted to speed up the efficiency of coal loading and transportation.
After remote communication between our engineers and the client, we found that the project faced three main challenges.
Power plant adjacent to the sea, high salt content in the air, the ordinary crane structure is very easy to rust and corrosion, the rust and corrosion resistance level of the equipment puts forward very high requirements.
Power plants need to run 24 hours a day, grab cranes need to work more than 16 hours a day, on the hoisting mechanism, wire rope and grab wear resistance, reliability requirements are tough.
Coal dust reaches a certain concentration in the confined space has the risk of explosion, electrical equipment and braking systems need to have dustproof, explosion-proof performance.

All steel structure surfaces are sprayed with epoxy zinc-rich primer + polyurethane topcoat, and the key fasteners are made of stainless steel, which can resist salt spray corrosion for more than 10 years.
The lifting, trolley and big trolley all adopt frequency conversion motors to realize smooth opening and closing of the grapple with little impact, effectively reducing material leakage and wire rope wear.
The cab is equipped with a positive pressure dust removal device to isolate external coal dust and protect the operator's health; at the same time, the whole machine is equipped with explosion-proof electrical components to eliminate the potential danger of dust explosion.
The grapple edge is made of high manganese steel wear-resistant material and equipped with automatic spraying dust suppression device, which greatly reduces the dust flying during the operation.
