This client is from Congo and they are involved in the steel products manufacturing industry, focusing on supplying high quality steel for local construction, manufacturing and infrastructure development. Due to continued expansion of their business, they wanted to improve handling efficiency and wanted to add an overhead crane to their shop. Customers found our website through Google, and after browsing our products, they contacted us to ask about 5 ton overhead cranes.
In the process of communicating with the customer, we got the customer's site photos and some detailed information about their needs.
Rated lifting capacity: 5 tons. Most of the billets to be lifted by customers weigh between 3-4 tons each, and the finished bundles are about 2-3 tons, the 5-ton specification leaves enough safety margin to meet the possible increase of loads in the future at the same time.
Span: According to the spacing of the columns in the customer's workshop, we determined that it is 13.5 meters, to ensure that the crane can cover the raw material stacking area, the heating furnace loading area and the finished product storage area.
Lifting height: The customer's workshop has a limited net height and requires a lifting height of not less than 6 meters in order to lift the billets to the entrance platform of the heating furnace.
Working system: The customer's production is a two-shift system, and we recommend the A5 working level, which meets the needs of moderately frequent operations.
In the process of communicating with the customer, we learned that the customer's application environment has the following problems.
Unstable power supply
The power grid in some parts of the Congo fluctuates widely, with voltage dips sometimes occurring. For this reason, we have added overvoltage and undervoltage protection modules to the electrical system, and we recommend that our customers equip their cranes with independent voltage regulators. At the same time, our control cabinets are designed with wide voltage to enhance resistance to fluctuations.
High Temperature and Dust Environment
The temperature in the steel fabrication shop is high and metal dust is present. We have selected higher protection classes (IP54) for motors and electrical components, and enhanced the heat dissipation design of the gearboxes. The wire ropes of the hoists are also of a high-temperature resistant type for longer service life.
Infrastructure and Transportation Conditions
The local roads in the Congo are in varying conditions, making it difficult to transport large pieces of equipment on some roads. We break down the crane into a number of modular components (main girder, end girder, hoist, electric control box, etc.), which are shipped in standardized containers and installed under our guidance upon arrival. The entire transportation process went smoothly and the equipment was not damaged.
Customer's lack of operating experience
Since the customer had never used a bridge crane before, we provided detailed Chinese/English operating manuals and arranged remote video guidance to help the customer's electricians and operators to complete the installation and commissioning. At the same time, we prepare spare parts for critical wearing parts (such as limit switches and contactors) so that customers can replace them quickly.
