There is a customer from Russia who wants to buy bridge cranes from a processing plant that produces metal parts and structural components.Since this year, the order volume of their processing plant has been increasing, and the existing equipment is difficult to meet the demand of the production line.In order to improve the efficiency of material handling in the factory and reduce the burden of handling for workers, the customer wants to purchase a bridge crane.

Customer's Lifting Needs

After on-site communication and assessment, the customer's lifting needs are as follows: need to be equipped with a rated lifting capacity of 3 tons of cranes; crane trolley operation needs to be covered by the workshop's main operating areas, to ensure that it can be fully serviced in the various machining centers, assembly workstations and raw material storage areas.The crane needs to lift the workpiece about 1.5 meters above the machine table.In addition, workers need to perform frequent and precise alignment, which requires the crane to have ground remote control operation for smooth lifting of precision workpieces.

Key Challenges in the Lifting Environment

Russia's climate and the plant's own conditions present several special challenges for the design and use of cranes:

1.Low Temperature Environment

The temperature in the factory's winter workshop can drop to -25°C.Ordinary cranes may suffer from lubricant solidification, cable hardening, and sluggish response of electrical components at low temperatures.Therefore, we must use low-temperature-resistant lubricants, cold-resistant cables, and wide-temperature electrical components, and ensure that all rubber parts remain flexible at low temperatures.

2.Plant structure is old

The plant has been in use for many years and there is some degree of deterioration and cracking in the concrete columns and track beams.We could not design the crane wheel pressure according to the standard load, and had to spread the wheel pressure by optimizing the end beam structure and increasing the number of wheels to avoid secondary damage to the plant.

3.Dust and Chip Environment

Machining centers generate a large amount of metal chips and trace amounts of coolant mist during operation.Crane hoists and trolleys that are not adequately sealed may allow swarf to enter the gearbox or electrical box, accelerating wear or triggering short circuits.For this reason, we have retrofitted the hoist with a protective cover and increased the degree of protection of the electrical parts.

4.Short installation and maintenance window

The customer could only provide 3 consecutive days of downtime to install the crane.This requires us to complete as much pre-assembly as possible in China, modularizing track segments, end beams, hoists, etc., so that when we arrive at the site, all we need to do is bolt on and commission, greatly shortening the installation cycle.

1.Low-temperature-adapted machine configurations

Considering the extreme low temperatures of -25°C in winter workshops, we have equipped our cranes with a full-system cold-resistant program:

  1. Lubrication System: All reducers, wheel bearings and wire ropes are lubricated with low-temperature-resistant synthetic grease, which ensures good fluidity at -30°C, avoiding dry grinding of gears due to lubrication solidification during startup.
  2. Cables and electrical parts: Main cables and control cables use cold-resistant rubber sheathed cables to prevent the outer skin from hardening and cracking.
  3. Rubber parts: All buffers and seals are made of silicone rubber, which remains elastic at low temperatures and prevents oil leakage or buffer failure.

2.Low wheel pressure design for older plant structures

The plant's concrete columns and track girders were deteriorated and cracked, and we were unable to apply the standard wheel pressure as a conventional crane.To this end, we have taken the following measures:

  • Optimization of end beam structure: Increasing the number of wheels reduces the wheel pressure of each wheel by about 40%, effectively dispersing the concentrated load on the track beam.
  • Increase wheel tread width: Slightly increase the contact area between the wheel and the track without increasing the wheel pressure, reducing the risk of localized track wear.

3.Full protection design against dust and chips

Metal swarf and coolant mist generated by machining centers are highly susceptible to invading critical crane components.Our protection programs include:

  • ➢Hoist fully enclosed enclosure: The whole wire rope hoist is fitted with a stainless steel enclosure with IP55 protection level, and all inlets are equipped with sealing rings to prevent chips from entering the gear box and motor through the cooling holes or seams.
  • ➢Trolley Dustproof Skirt: Wear-resistant rubber skirt is installed under the trolley running mechanism to scrape off the chips on the track surface when moving with the trolley, and at the same time block the splash of the coolant mist from below from entering the wheels and the gear box.
  • ➢Positive Pressure Ventilation for Electrical Cabinets: For dusty areas, we also offer optional positive pressure electrical cabinets, which are continuously purged with clean air to eliminate dust entry.
