Features of metallurgical electric hoist

A metallurgical electric hoist is specially designed for harsh working environments such as steel mills and foundries. It must handle high temperatures, heavy loads, and frequent lifting cycles. In these conditions, safety and reliability are critical. That is why this type of hoist uses reinforced components and multiple protection systems. When you choose a metallurgical electric hoist, you get stronger braking, higher insulation levels, and better heat resistance compared with a standard electric hoist.

  1. The lifting mechanism is equipped with both a support brake and a safety brake. This dual braking system gives you extra protection during operation. If the tapered motor brake fails or if there is a problem in the intermediate transmission system, the DC electromagnetic brake installed on the high-speed shaft of the reducer or the drum brake will immediately activate. At the same time, the ratchet wheel brake prevents the load from slipping or falling. This design helps avoid dangerous accidents caused by sudden load drop.
  2. The hoist also includes a double limit protection system. It uses two independent limit switches to control the upper and lower lifting positions. If one limit fails, the second one will still stop the hook from moving beyond the safe range. This reduces the risk of over-lifting or over-lowering, which can damage the hoist or cause safety issues. In addition, the hoist features weight limit protection. When the load exceeds the rated capacity, the system will stop lifting automatically. This prevents overloading and extends the service life of key components.
  3. To handle high-temperature environments, the hoist is designed with high-temperature heat insulation protection. The lifting motor and traveling motor both use H-class insulation, which can withstand much higher temperatures than standard insulation grades. An overheating protection device is installed inside the lifting motor winding. If the temperature rises beyond the safe limit, the system will cut off power to protect the motor. This helps you avoid costly motor damage and unexpected shutdowns.
  4. For special metallurgical applications, the hoist uses high-strength and high-temperature resistant wire rope. This type of wire rope maintains its performance even under extreme heat and heavy loads. It offers better durability and higher safety compared with ordinary wire rope.
